Civic integration exam

You have a Dutch partner. You would like to come to the Netherlands. First, you must pass the examination held at the Dutch embassy.

The examination consists of three sections:
  1. "Toets Kennis van de Nederlandse Samenleving" - you must have certain knowledge about the Netherlands.
  2. "Toets Gesproken Nederlands" - you must speak Dutch.
  3. "Toets Geletterdheid en Begrijpend Lezen" - you must be able to read and understand Dutch texts.




De 100 vragen van de KNS

1. Kennis van de Nederlandse Samenleving / Knowledge of the Dutch society

For the toets KNS, you must have certain knowledge about the Netherlands.

It consists of 100 questions. You will see a picture and hear a question.
You will be required to know the answer.
During the examination, 30 of the 100 questions will be asked.
You will pass if you answer at least 21 questions correctly.
You must learn the questions and answers off by heart!

2. Toets Gesproken Nederlands

During the TGN, you must be able to understand and speak Dutch.

The TGN consists of 5 parts: listening and repeating, short questions, listening and repeating, antitheses and summarising short narratives.
A total of 80 points are available.
You will pass if you score at least 26 points.

3. Toets Geletterdheid en Begrijpend Lezen

The toets GBL is a reading test that consists of five parts.

You must read words, sentences and short texts out loud.
Then, you must read and complete sentences out loud.
Finally, you must read a short text and answer questions about this text.
A total of 35 points are available.
You will pass if you score at least 26 points.

How should I prepare for the examination?

The most effective method of preparation is to attend our course in the Netherlands. You visit the Netherlands on a tourist visa. Our course lasts for four weeks.
The course costs € 840.
After completing the course, you can take the examination at the Dutch embassy in your home country.
